Sandy River, Oregon - Dodge Park to Oxbow Park Float Trip

Map with video time points: maps.google.com Take a ride via cataraft on Oregon's Sandy RIver. This run is a remarkably well-preserved section of river just 30 minutes from Portland, Oregon. Just a hundred yards from the boat ramp is the first Class 3 rapid - Pipeline - which starts things off with a splash. Later is the upper minefield, a boulder-strewn rock garden (Class 2+), and about half way down the 8 mile run is the second minefield (Class 3). If you're considering running your driftboat down this section, you'll really want to see this!

Sandy River Flooding - January 16, 2011 - Sandy, Oregon

A video sent from KOIN Local 6 viewer Michele Veenker after Timberline Lodge ski area received almost 9 inches of rain in 24 hours. The Sandy River runs down the slopes of Mt. Hood and river levels increased as much as 15 feet because of the heavy rain and snow melt from the winter storm.

Marmot Dam Removal, Sandy River, Oregon

Short video of the Sandy River during the breach and removal of earthen dam. The 50 ft high Marmot Dam had accumulated river sediments descended from the western slope of Oregon's Mount Hood for about 94 years before decommissioning in October 2007.
